15 Pocket Snacks for Busy Aviators

Over the last few years, air travel has really increased!  Of course…we were all tired of staying home.  It’s only natural that your career as an aviation professional has become increasingly busier, too.  Often, we hear from clients who say “I pack food but I often don’t have the ability to warm it up” or,  “I’ve had so many gate changes lately that I really need food I can consume quickly that does not create a mess.”  Enter pocket snacks!

Hi, busy aviator! We hear you!  Let’s chat about how you can easily and healthily fuel your body while improving your health. Travel can drain your body and affect your long term health. We hear you when you say you’re always in a rush, you go from airport to airport, gate to gate, and hotel to hotel.  Some days it’s hard to remember exactly where you are! Most of this feeling can occur because you’re not getting ample calories and nutrients.  And let’s just be real here.  Some of the snacks we see y’all posting on social media meet the need for hunger but are severely lacking in fueling your body optimally.

This is why I want to share with you 15 pocket snacks that you can fit in your shirt or jacket pocket.  When you’re running from one gate to the next you can easily tear open a package, pop the food in your mouth, and feel confident knowing it is going to feed your hungry belly AND nourish those cells that need fuel the most. The snacks I chose are all sealed packages that can be put into your bag (or your pocket) and enjoyed on the go! They are also perfect for those of you that get rerouted (hello 2024 snowstorm!) and end up in a situation where you have to pass through U.S. or other country customs.  No.trashed.food.  YES!!!  We are always here to meet all your needs. Just keep giving us the struggles and we will attempt to solve them all.

The snacks we have selected are linked in the handout at the bottom of this page, but before you jump to that, I want to make sure that you know what to look for in a healthy pocket snack.

Protein

You want to make sure that whatever you are eating for your snack contains protein. This will help keep your fatigue level low, especially on those long flights between meals!

Fiber

Fiber is crucial for your digestive health and your overall well-being. It also helps manage your blood sugar by slowing the absorption of sugar into your cells. An added bonus of choosing a snack with fiber? It can promote a feeling of fullness, so you don’t have to worry about getting hungry before you can get to your next meal.

Fat

Healthy fats provide a source of sustained energy. Unlike sugary snacks that may lead to a quick spike in energy followed by a crash, snacks containing healthy fats can help maintain a stable blood sugar level, promoting lasting energy throughout the day.

Carbs

Carbs are a quick form of energy for the brain. When you consume carbs in a snack, they are rapidly broken down into glucose, which is then used to fuel your brain and then your body organs. My favorite thing about snacks with carbs for busy aviators is the quick energy boost they provide to help you perform your tasks in a quick and accurate manner.

Each of the snacks on the handout contain all of the things above – protein, fiber, fat, and carbs. These are all available on my Amazon storefront for you to purchase and have delivered straight to your house! One thing all of the clients that have worked with me learn is having a plan and a stash of readily available food helps so much.  What if you’re on reserve for the month?  Keeping these snacks on hand at home helps you not get caught in a pinch when you get called to cover a flight. Saving time makes your life SO much easier!
